Queen in the car

Riding through the beautiful country side of Connecticut with my brother in his car-- he played Queen on his CD player. It's heaven to hear music while riding through beautiful country! My brother rediscovered this old rock group and he loves it. [He found out you can hear all the tracks of a CD, even in its shrink wrap, at the store. You just swipe the barcode over the player and you can hear it immediately. That's how he chose 3 CDs. ] As my brother talked about Queen and we listened to the music I got an insight to my brother: he has an emotional/musical life that not everyone would know about. It's like me, too. I am sure that very few people know about my emotional/musical life. It's quite a private thing, I guess. I felt closer to my brother after that, because he shared that with me and he knew I would understand. Also, listening to music in the presence of someone else who loves that music can help you to understand it.

What a great story--brings up my own memories of discovering Queen, quite by accident, in the car, while teaching my son to drive. It's still one of my top two or three favorite groups, and I still mourn Freddie Mercury. What a phenomenal voice!
Another aspect of the story: Isn't it great to get insights into the adults your relatives have grown into (or, in the case of your parents, have always been)? We get hung up on the perceptions we had when we were kids, blinding ourselves to "the truth."

Valerie! Thanks for your comment. What a strange coincidence -- another "Queen in the car" story.
